Aesthetic and ambiance

Our custom seven crystal mat

The therapeutic input on the mat comes from the electromagnetic pulses and the far infrared heat. The seven natural crystals layered on the surface are for thermal mass, aesthetic warmth, and the grounding experience many clients describe. Each crystal carries traditional wellness associations we honor, without making medical claims about them.

AmethystTraditionally associated with calm, stress relief, and deeper sleep.
SodaliteTraditionally associated with mental clarity and steady focus.
Blue Lace AgateTraditionally associated with soothing tension and worry.
Green AventurineTraditionally associated with balance, renewal, and heart support.
Yellow AventurineTraditionally associated with confidence and uplifted mood.
CarnelianTraditionally associated with energy, motivation, and vitality.
Red JasperTraditionally associated with grounding, stamina, and stability.

Our mat also offers PEMF frequencies tuned to natural brain wave ranges, from delta for deep rest, to theta for grounding, alpha for calm focus, and beta for a natural lift. Layer with far infrared heat and negative ions for an even deeper experience.

The science, honestly framed

Why vagus nerve stimulation matters

The vagus nerve is a major pathway in your autonomic nervous system, coordinating stress response, heart rhythm, breathing, and digestion. When stress runs high for too long, the nervous system can get stuck in sympathetic dominance, or fight or flight. Non invasive vagus nerve stimulation at the neck engages this pathway and has been studied for effects on heart rate variability and parasympathetic activation, the calmer, more restorative state your body needs to actually recover.

Research on the Pulsetto device has been associated with self reported improvements in relaxation, sleep, and mood over regular use. Bilateral stimulation studies have shown effects on cortisol, a biological marker of stress. These are wellness findings from consumer research on the device and non invasive vagus nerve stimulation broadly. They are not a promise of a specific outcome for any individual.

Findings reference published research on non invasive vagus nerve stimulation and the Pulsetto device. This is general wellness content, not medical advice. Individual results vary.

Reset Room FAQs

What is the Reset Room at Sweatland?

The Reset Room is a 20 minute full body recovery experience at Sweatland in Austin on South Lamar. It combines a seven crystal PEMF therapy mat, red and near infrared light therapy, and Pulsetto FIT bilateral vagus nerve stimulation. Designed to support relaxation, promote recovery, and help you feel more balanced.

How long is a Reset Room session?

Your session is 20 minutes. The appointment is booked as a 30 minute block so we have 10 minutes to prep, set, and reset the room between guests.

What is PEMF and what does a PEMF mat do?

PEMF stands for pulsed electromagnetic field. The mat delivers low frequency electromagnetic pulses tuned to natural biological rhythms and brainwave ranges. Our crystaline mat also includes seven natural crystals for thermal mass and ambiance, far infrared heat from 95 to 167 degrees Fahrenheit, and negative ion and photon options. PEMF is an evolving wellness technology; whole body mat research is developing.

What is Pulsetto and how does vagus nerve stimulation work?

Pulsetto FIT is a wearable device that uses gentle electrical pulses at the sides of the neck to engage the vagus nerve pathway. The vagus nerve is a major line between brain and body that helps regulate the stress response. Non invasive vagus nerve stimulation has been studied for effects on heart rate variability and parasympathetic activation. We always start on low intensity and adjust only to a comfortable, mild tingling sensation.

What is red and near infrared light therapy?

Photobiomodulation uses selected wavelengths of red and near infrared light that interact with cellular processes. One proposed effect involves mitochondrial activity and ATP production. Red light therapy has a strong published research base and is commonly used in wellness settings for skin support, recovery, and relaxation.

How often should I book the Reset Room?

Our staff recommendation for cumulative benefit is 2 to 3 sessions per week. One 20 minute session per day is considered a safe maximum. Consistency matters more than intensity. New clients are welcome to try one session first before deciding on a cadence.

Is the Reset Room HSA or FSA eligible?

Yes, Sweatland services may be eligible for HSA or FSA reimbursement depending on your provider and plan. We recommend checking with your HSA or FSA provider.

Do I need to remove my clothes?

No. Sessions are clothed. Wear something comfortable you can relax in. We do ask you to remove shoes, loose metal jewelry near the treatment area, and portable electronics like phone, smartwatch, and earbuds.

Can I use my phone during the session?

No. We ask you to silence your phone and store it away from the treatment area. This is both for the technology (metal and electronics can interact with the PEMF field) and for the experience (a phone free 20 minutes is part of the reset).

Will I feel the PEMF?

Maybe, maybe not. PEMF can be very subtle. Some people notice thermal warmth from the far infrared setting; some notice nothing at all. Not feeling a sensation does not mean it is not working. The Pulsetto is where most people notice sensation, a mild tingling or pulsing at the neck.

Who should not book the Reset Room?

Please do not book if you have a pacemaker, ICD, implanted neurostimulator, or defibrillator; metal hardware or device at or near the neck; are pregnant; have a seizure disorder or epilepsy; have a significant heart rhythm or cardiovascular condition; have active cancer or cancer in remission without medical clearance; have had recent neck or throat surgery; have open wounds or active skin infection at treatment areas; severe light sensitivity or use of photosensitizing medication; or nickel allergy for the Pulsetto electrodes. See the full safety section above.

Can I stack the Reset Room with a sauna or red light session?

Yes. Members frequently pair the Reset Room with a Suite sauna, standalone full body red light, or the GLOW LED facial. What you should not stack in the same day is another electrical stimulation device outside of Sweatland.

What if I feel dizzy, uncomfortable, or something feels wrong during my session?

Tell us right away. You never need to finish a session. Our staff will stop the modalities, help you sit or stand safely, and check on you. If you feel a mild sensation like warmth, tingling, or sleepiness, that is expected. Anything sharp, painful, or accompanied by dizziness, nausea, palpitations, shortness of breath, or a strong headache is a signal to stop.

Where is the Reset Room located?

At Sweatland, 215 South Lamar Blvd, Suite B, Austin, TX 78704, in South Austin near Zilker, Bouldin Creek, Travis Heights, and Downtown Austin. Free garage parking validated at booking.

What the science shows

Honest evidence tiers

Not every wellness modality has the same weight of research behind it. We think you deserve to know the difference. Here is how we categorize the three modalities in the Reset Room based on published science, not marketing.

Strong evidence

Red and near infrared light

Photobiomodulation has a large peer reviewed research base for skin support, tissue recovery, and inflammation modulation. Mechanisms involving mitochondrial function and ATP production are well described.

  • Skin health and collagen support
  • Tissue recovery in athletes and post exercise
  • General inflammation and circulation support
Strong evidence

Vagus nerve stimulation

Non invasive vagus nerve stimulation has a growing peer reviewed base for autonomic regulation, heart rate variability, and stress response. Bilateral stimulation studies have shown effects on cortisol.

  • Heart rate variability shifts
  • Parasympathetic activation
  • Self reported relaxation and sleep quality
Emerging evidence

Whole body PEMF mats

PEMF has documented effects in specific FDA cleared clinical uses like bone healing. Whole body wellness mats are a newer category. Research suggests cellular signaling effects and is actively developing. Protocols vary.

  • Cellular signaling and relaxation
  • General recovery and sleep support
  • Evidence base is still expanding
